Chief Deputy Rand Maker began his law enforcement career in 1989 as a Reserve Police Officer for the Town of Baileyville.   After graduation in 1990 from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, he began full time work at the Calais Police Department before eventually beginning work at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 as a Patrol Deputy.  Chief Deputy Maker was promoted to Detective Sergeant and then to Patrol Lieutenant at the Sheriff’s Office.  He was named Chief Deputy by Sheriff Brackett in February of 2017.

Chief Deputy Maker continues to teach DARE in several Lincoln County schools and has a leadership position in which he plans and manages Camp POSTCARD each year.  Camp POSTCARD is a program sponsored by the Maine Sheriff’s Association and Volunteers of America in which children from each Maine County are offered a week of summer camp at no cost.  Chief Deputy Maker has been involved with this program for over 20 years.

Chief Deputy Maker lives in Walpole with his wife and son.  When not working at the Sheriff’s Office, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family camping and has been a basketball coach at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle since 1999.  For over 15 years he has worked one night each week for the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service in Damariscotta as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Chief Deputy Maker has been designated by Sheriff Todd Brackett as the agency Civil Rights Officer..
